“Not Our Work” Machakos County Government Disowns Cracked Bridge

The Machakos County Government has distanced itself from the cracked Machakos- Kitui connection bridge road after residents called Governor Alfred Mutua out for touring other counties yet his county’s roads were in a bad condition.
This comes after the Kenya National Highway Authority denied responsibility of the road and stated that the road is under the mandate of the Machakos County Government, implemented under Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP).

The Kariobangi- Sokoni road in Machakos Town is is the same road that was coincidentally completed during Governor Mutua’s first 100 days after his election in 2013, in a project of the the World Bank.

Machakos Deputy Governor, Francis Maliti together with Eng. Morris Aluanga, CEC Nominee for Roads and Lazarus Kivuva, CO in the ministry visited the section of the cracked road and distanced themselves from carrying out the project.
He urged contractors to thoroughly oversee projects so as to meet required standards.
