Posters erected outside the Supreme Court on Monday are meant to intimidate the judges ahead of Presidential petition seeking to nullify President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election, Senior Counsel Apollo Mboya has said.

The posters are of President Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto.

They are captioned: ”We are tired of court cases, swear in Uhuru/ Ruto to take Kenya forward.”

Former Kilome MP, Harun Mwau filed a petitioon seeking to invalidate Kenyatta’s re-election as it was ”unconstitutional, illegal, invalid, irregular and in violation of Articles in the Elections Act.”

Mwau says that the IEBC discriminated upon the other six candidates as Uhuru and Raila had more time to campaign and sell their agenda while the others got 13 days.

“Proceeding to conduct fresh presidential elections without nominated candidates, nominations, without fees, and without giving persons listed as candidates equal campaign period, directly affected the conduct and results of the fresh presidential elections of 26th October 2017,”the petition reads in part.

The petition comes days after Deputy Chief Justice, Philomena Mwilu’s bodyguard was shot by unknown assailants before the court could hear a case that could have altered the election calendar.

According to a senior judiciary official, the attack ‘was a warning shot aimed at intimidating the judiciary.’

Should Mwau’s case go through, the SCOK will hear the case on Monday, 13 November.
