Notorious Suspect Arrested in Eastleigh

Police officers have arrested a suspected notorious criminal in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area and recovered a homemade firearm and a knife during the operation.
According to a police statement, officers on patrol along Lamu Road in the Majengo area encountered the suspect, who is known by the aliases “Kanyundo” and “Rashid Abdalla.”
Police said the suspect fled immediately after spotting the officers, prompting a chase through several parts of the city.
The suspect reportedly attempted to escape towards the California area before officers caught up with him at the Madina Mall Roundabout in Eastleigh, where he was arrested.
A search conducted after the arrest led to the recovery of a homemade firearm and a knife.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect is a known criminal linked to a number of serious offences in the Shauri Moyo area.
Police records reportedly connect him to previous cases involving stabbing incidents and mobile phone snatching, crimes that have contributed to insecurity in the locality.
“The suspect remains in police custody pending arraignment in court to face the relevant charges,” police said.
In a separate operation, police officers in Migori County arrested one suspect and recovered several rolls of suspected cannabis sativa during a raid in Rongo Sub-County.
The suspect was taken to Migori Police Station, where he is being held pending arraignment in court.
Police said the operation forms part of an ongoing crackdown on narcotics trafficking and drug abuse in the county.
