The National Police Service (NPS) rolled out 56 new Isuzu vehicles leased from Isuzu East Africa in a move aimed at enhancing mobility and service delivery across the country.
This was part of a deal valued at Sh600 million, strengthening police mobility and operational capacity across the country.
Officials said the government had acquired 95 new vehicles worth Sh600 million.
The deal is under the state vehicle leasing programme, which seeks to strengthen operational capacity and service delivery across public institutions.
Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service (APS), Gilbert Masengeli, who represented the Inspector General of Police during the rollout, said the new fleet will significantly improve operational efficiency and response times for officers on the ground.
Masengeli noted that the vehicles will be deployed across various regions to support routine patrols, rapid response, and other policing operations, reinforcing the NPS commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
“The addition of these vehicles will enhance our capacity to serve wananchi more effectively and respond promptly to security needs,” he said.
The Kenya Police Service (KPS) was represented at the event by Senior Assistant Inspector General Patrick Tito, underscoring the multi-unit approach within the NPS to strengthening security operations.
The leasing arrangement with Isuzu East Africa is part of broader efforts by the police service to modernise its fleet while ensuring cost-effectiveness, reliability, and nationwide coverage.
The delivery forms part of Phase Seven of the government vehicle leasing programme, under which Isuzu is supplying a total of 591 vehicles worth Sh7 billion to the NPS, with subsequent deliveries expected over the next four months.
The latest batch comprises 66 units of the Isuzu TFS 87 Double Cabin and 29 units of the Isuzu TFS 87 Single Cabin, vehicles designed to operate in diverse and demanding terrain.

The vehicle leasing programme is a key pillar in the modernisation of government fleets, aimed at reducing maintenance downtime, improving reliability, and ensuring predictable budgeting for public institutions while keeping frontline officers operational.
