NTSA Announces Auction Of Vehicles, Goods Starting June 4

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced a public auction of motor vehicles and assorted goods set to take place in several towns across Kenya beginning June 4, 2025.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, NTSA stated that the auction will be conducted by George Mbagu of Immediate Auctioneers, who has been appointed to oversee the process.
According to the schedule released by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), vehicles will be auctioned at various NTSA offices across the country starting with Nyahururu on June 4, followed by Nakuru on June 5, Kisii on June 6, Mombasa on June 9, Machakos on June 10, Thika on June 11, Embu on June 12, and finally at the NTSA Headquarters in Nairobi on June 13. In addition to the vehicles, assorted goods will also be auctioned on June 13 in Mombasa, Machakos, and Kisumu.
Interested buyers can access the auction catalogue, which contains detailed information about the items on sale, at Immediate Auctioneers offices located at Kenya Post Bank Pension Towers, Chambers Road, off Murang’a Road, 3rd Floor, Suite No. 17. The catalogue is available at a cost of Sh500.
“All interested bidders may view the items from the date of the advert to June 3, 2025 on weekdays during normal working hours to verify all the details for themselves as these are neither warranted by NTSA nor the appointed auctioneer,” the notice reads.
The Authority stressed that all items will be sold on an “as-is, where-is” basis and are subject to a reserve price.
To participate in the auction, bidders are required to pay a refundable deposit of Sh100,000 for vehicles and Sh20,000 for assorted goods. Once the deposit is made, bidders will be issued a Bidding Number, which will also serve as their entry pass to the auction yard.
Only those with a valid Bidding Number and an Auction Catalogue will be allowed access to the auction area. No bid deposits will be accepted at the auction venues, and all bidding deposit payments must be completed by June 3, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
Successful bidders must pay 10% of the purchase price on the same day of the auction and the remaining balance within 14 calendar days. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of both the 10% and the bid deposit, and the item will be resold at NTSA’s discretion.
All payments must be made through eCitizen or as directed by NTSA accountants present at the auction venues. Purchased items must be collected within 14 days of full payment, or they will attract a storage fee of Sh1,000 per day.
Unsuccessful bidders will receive a refund of their bid deposit within seven days after the auction. The auction process will adhere to the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act (PPADA) 2015, including guidelines on preferences and reservations.
