The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended several public transport operators after a series of fatal road accidents during the December 2025 festive season.

The affected companies include The Guardian Coach Limited, Greenline Company Ltd, Nanyuki Express Cab Services Ltd, Monna Comfort Sacco, Naekana Route 134 Sacco Ltd, and Uwezo Coast Shuttle.

In a statement on Monday, January 19, NTSA said the suspensions followed reports of fatal crashes, failure to adhere to KS 2295-2023, and non-compliance with the National Transport and Safety Authority (Operation of PSV) Regulations, 2014.

The Guardian Coach Limited was involved in a crash on January 6, 2026, along Nairobi–Naivasha Road at Kimende area. NTSA warned the company:

“The Company should present twenty-four (24) vehicles with various violations to the respective speed limiter vendors for functionality check.”

The company must also present the vehicles for compliance inspection at Likoni Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre and submit the reports to the authority. The PSV endorsements of eighteen drivers involved in speed violations are hereby cancelled, and their driving licences suspended for a period of ninety days, after which they must undergo a driver re-test.

Nanyuki Express Cab Services Ltd is accused of a fatal crash on January 4, 2026, along Nakuru–Nairobi Highway at Karai area. NTSA said:

“The Authority resolved to suspend the operations of the Company.”

The authority also gave all suspended operators 21 days to comply with the set conditions, warning that failure to do so would extend the suspension of their operating licences.

NTSA said the action is part of its mandate to enforce road safety, ensure compliance with vehicle standards, and prevent further loss of lives on Kenyan roads.
