Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has apologized to the Raila Odinga family for the embarrassment caused by the publication of an “erroneous” list of land defaulters.
On the list was Raila’s father Jaramogi Oginga and his brother Oburu Odinga who allegedly owe the county government Sh7,774,099 and Sh295,743 respectively.
The county communication officer Aloice Ager noted that the list published in the local dailies had not been processed through the county cabinet for final action, hence the mix up.
“The reconciliation process entailed crosschecking with all relevant information including minutes from sessions by the full councils of those defunct authorities, the decision by the then state Department of Local authority and the county cabinet,” Mr Ager said.

He on behalf of the county boss apologized for the wrong list being sent to the public, something that has embarrassed the county government as well.
“The Governor Peter Anyang Nyong’o sends an unreserved apology to the family of the first vice president for the embarrassment caused by this publication and for this enormous error,” he continued.
