Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and two co-accused will know their fate in the Sharon Otieno murder case on May 29, 2026.

Obado was charged alongside his former personal assistant, Michael Oyamo and county clerk Caspal Obiero.

The matter was mentioned on Wednesday before Lady Justice Cecilia Githua, who confirmed that the judgment will be delivered on the scheduled date.

Githua directed that all the accused persons must be physically present in court at 10:30 a.m. on the day of the ruling.

The High Court on Wednesday set the date for the delivery of judgment in the high-profile case, where the three are charged with the murder of Sharon.

The slain University student was expectant when her lifeless body was found in a thicket in September 2018.

The three were earlier charged with the murder of Sharon’s 28-week-old unborn baby, but were acquitted due to insufficient evidence to support a separate murder charge.

Meanwhile, two men were convicted of robbery with violence in Meru County.

Douglas Muriithi and Antony Mugendi were convicted over an attack in which a woman was robbed of Sh5,700, 87 kilogrammes of sugar valued at Sh13,050, and 17 kilogrammes of onions worth Sh850—items valued at Sh19,600.

The court heard the incident happened on September 6, 2024 at about 11.40pm in Maua Location, Igembe South Sub-County.

Prosecutors said the two attackers, armed with pangas, metal rods and timber frames, accosted the victim and stole the items.

The court further found that the victim was injured during the robbery.

The court ruled the prosecution had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt, convicted the two and sentenced them to death.
