Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Dr Oburu Odinga has reportedly been hospitalised in Nairobi, where he has been receiving medical attention for the past three days.

Reports indicate that the 82-year-old Siaya Senator was admitted to a Nairobi hospital on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

According to reports, Oburu was admitted after experiencing severe fatigue, with his doctors recommending that he take time to rest.

His family is reportedly considering transferring him to the United Kingdom for specialised medical treatment, although no official confirmation has been issued regarding the plans.

Oburu was last seen in public on Saturday, August 29, when he reportedly played golf.

The veteran politician also shared images from the outing on social media, appearing to be in good spirits.

It remains unclear when he was taken to hospital after the golf outing.

Reports indicate that access to the ODM leader has been restricted, with only close family members and relatives being allowed to visit him regularly.

His medical team is also said to have issued strict instructions regarding visitors.

Oburu’s family has not publicly provided detailed information regarding his health.

The ODM party and the hospital where he is receiving treatment have also not issued an official statement on his condition.

Questions about Oburu’s health have previously circulated online.

In May 2026, doctored images were shared on social media with claims that the ODM leader had been hospitalised in India.

The reports were later dismissed after it emerged that the images had been digitally altered.

At the time, ODM officials indicated that Oburu was healthy, with his brief absence from some party activities contributing to speculation about his whereabouts.

Oburu, the elder brother of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has remained a prominent figure in Kenyan politics for decades.

He was elected Siaya Senator and later took over the leadership of ODM following changes at the top of the party.

The veteran politician has served in Parliament for several years and has been involved in national and opposition politics throughout his career.
