Olivia Culpo, born on May 8, 1992, in Cranston, Rhode Island, is an American model, actress and media personality who catapulted to fame after winning the Miss Universe title in 2012.
The daughter of Susan Curran, a musician, and Peter Culpo, a restaurateur, Olivia grew up in a musically inclined and entrepreneurial household.
She is of Italian descent with some Irish ancestry from her mother’s side.
A classically trained cellist, Olivia began playing the instrument in second grade and performed with prestigious groups like the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Boston Accompanietta.
After graduating from St. Mary Academy – Bay View, she briefly attended Boston University but left to pursue a career in modeling and pageantry.

Olivia’s career took off when she entered and won the Miss Rhode Island USA pageant in 2012, her first foray into pageantry.
That victory led to her claiming the Miss USA 2012 title, followed by the ultimate crown of Miss Universe 2012, making her the first Rhode Islander to achieve the honor.
Leveraging her pageant success, she transitioned into a multifaceted career in modeling, acting, and influencing.
She became a social media powerhouse, amassing millions of followers on Instagram, where she collaborates with brands like L’Oréal, Kipling, and Uberliss.
Olivia has graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2020 alongside Jasmine Sanders and Kate Bock and walked runways for designers like Sherri Hill.
Her acting credits include roles in films such as The Other Woman (2014), I Feel Pretty (2018), Reprisal (2018), and Venus as a Boy (2021), as well as a stint on the reality show Model Squad (2018).
In 2023, she competed as “UFO” on Season 9 of The Masked Singer, reaching the quarterfinals.
Entrepreneurial ventures include co-owning Rhode Island restaurants like Back 40 and Union & Main with her family, and launching a fashion line with her sisters.
Since 2019, her relationship with NFL star Christian McCaffrey, whom she married in June 2024, has kept her in the public eye, culminating in her announcing her first pregnancy in March 2025.
