One killed as Gachagua alleges State complicity in Kakamega chaos

At least one person was killed while many others were injured in chaos that broke out during a political rally organized by a faction of ODM.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accused top government officials of being behind the chaos.
“Since independence we have an embarrassing situation where the CS in charge of Security and his PS are the primary cause of insecurity in the Country; a nation predominantly known as an Island of Peace in Africa.”
“They are in charge of mobilizing goons and giving the goons police escort to unleash violence on innocent citizens. It is unbelievable that those entrusted with securing the people of Kenya have been organizing goons and some rogue police to attack our churches and thereafter protecting them from prosecution,” he said.
Several other people were injured in the chaos that broke out after the rally ended.
Gachagua launched a scathing attack on the government’s security leadership, accusing senior officials of failing to protect Kenyans and instead presiding over rising insecurity.
Gachagua claimed that Kenya, once regarded as an “island of peace” in Africa, is now grappling with politically instigated violence allegedly involving hired youth groups.
He alleged that certain government officials were mobilizing young people to disrupt gatherings in parts of the country, including recent unrest reported in Kakamega. According to him, one of the youths involved died during the chaos, while others sustained injuries.
Gachagua urged the government to prioritize job creation and meaningful youth empowerment programs rather than what he termed as “enticing young people with handouts.”
He also criticized remarks previously made by Murkomen, referencing comments about civilians being in possession of teargas canisters during recent confrontations.
Calling on Kenyans to remain courageous, Gachagua warned that continued political tensions could attract international scrutiny.
The government has yet to respond to the allegations.
“The ‘civilians’ our Celebrity CS Murkomen said are having teargas canisters lobbed tear gas on the meeting but people were unmoved!”
