Painter dies after falling from third floor of house in Mombasa

A painter died after he fell from the third floor of a house he was working on in Kizingo area, Mombasa County.
Police and witnesses said Josephat Wafula, 35 was painting a wall on the third floor when he slid and fell to the basement floor. He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
Police visited the scene as part of the probe into the incident as the body was moved to the mortuary.
Elsewhere, two people drowned in separate incidents in Vihiga and Mombasa Counties.
In the first incident, a child drowned in Muhudu area Cheptulu, Vihiga County.
Police said the two-year-old baby boy drowned in a trench full of water in a home. The child was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The area has been experiencing heavy rains. The body was moved to the mortuary.
In Kiembeni, Mombasa County, a four-year-old girl drowned in a well in an incident. The girl with other friends had been playing at the scene when she drowned in the well that was uncovered.
The body was retrieved and moved to the mortuary pending other procedures, police said.
In Soy, Uasin Gishu County, the body of a man was found at a cemetery.
The body was found on Saturday in the Kiplombe area long after his death. Police said they are investigating if the victim was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the site.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and identification.
And there was panic when a chopper carrying transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir made an emergency landing at the Suswa Railways terminus over poor weather.
The chopper landed at the station parking area while it was headed for Eldoret on Friday February 27, 2026 at about 10.50 am.
The CS was in the company of his wife and security personnel when the incident happened. They waited for an hour for the weather to clear before they took off safely.
Most parts of the country are experiencing heavy rains which have affected visibility for some pilots.
