A maid who has been seeking to have her dues paid by her former employer since 2017 claims her life is in danger.

Peninah Awuor, 28, in 2017 accused her employer Ahmed Abdi Noor of failing to pay her for “inappropriate” chores which included cleaning a corpse stored under his bed.

According to Awuor, Noor who resides in Pangani, Nairobi County hired her but declined to pay her for the extra chores. The unpaid dues, she said, amount to Sh13,000.

The complainant last week told Kibera Magistrate Boaz Ombewa that she has since been attacked by strange looking men asking why she is still pursuing the case.

“My life is in danger, I met some strange men who beat me up immediately I left this court on February 21. I am asthmatic, I don’t have a job, and the case is adjourned every time it comes up for hearing. Since 2017 my case has been adjourned on the grounds that the doctor who is to testify on a medical report has not attended court,” she said.

The doctor has however been ordered to appear before court on May 14, failure to which an arrest warrant will be issued against him.

The magistrate also ordered that she report the threats to the police and get the OB number.

Last year she also told the court that Mr Noor on various occasions physically and sexually assaulted her.

For example, she told the court, on September 28 when she was ironing clothes, Noor groped her from behind and when she protested, he hit her.

“When I explained to his wife what had transpired, he came back, kicked and hit me,” she said.

He has since denied the charges, with his witness stating that Awuor was never assaulted but was demanding to have her dues paid.
