Police Destroy 12,000 Litres of Kangara, Recover Bhang Worth Sh32,500 in Homa Bay and Bondo

Police have destroyed more than 12,000 litres of Kangara in Homa Bay and recovered cannabis sativa worth Sh32,500 in Bondo in separate operations targeting illicit brews and narcotics.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said a multi-agency team of police officers from Kendubay Police Station and National Government Administration Officers raided Maguti area, along the shores of Lake Victoria, on Thursday.
During the raid, the team destroyed over 12,000 litres of Kangara and seized brewing equipment used to produce the illegal alcohol.
“The operation will continue as part of sustained efforts to eliminate illicit brews in the region,” DCI said.
In another operation in Bondo Sub-County, officers from Bondo Police Station intercepted a motorcycle along the Bondo–Ratiya Road. The rider was arrested while his passenger escaped on foot.
A search of the motorcycle led to the recovery of 65 rolls of bhang hidden in a metallic box and two bags. Police said the drugs had an estimated street value of Sh32,500.
“The National Police Service commends the officers for their vigilance and reiterates its commitment to the fight against drug and substance abuse,” the statement added.
