Kibera residents on Thursday morning protested against the fresh elections in the opposition stronghold.
The Raila Odinga supporters blocked roads leading to the polling stations.
The opposition supporters lit bonfires and kept people willing to exercise their civic duty from the polling stations.
One polling station, Olympic Primary School, remained closed using rocks and carts.
“Naendelea na kazi kama kawaida.. siwezi piga kura,” a resident told the Star.
Anti-riot police dispersed the crowds blocking the roads.
Odinga on Wednesday asked his supporters to stay home and pray for the nation.
He said that the NASA coalition was transforming into a resistance movement that would not take instructions from the government.
He maintained that the elections were shambolic and would push for fresh elections in 90 days.
In Migori, supporters kept vigil to keep away voting materials from getting to the polling stations.
