Police Fight To Take Back Loiyangalani Town From Gunmen In Drama

There was drama in Loiyangalani Town, Marsabit County after a gang stormed and took over its control in a robbery incident.
Police said the gang had on July 1 dawn raided the town and started to shoot aimlessly as others broke into shops looting valuables.
They targeted torches, clothes, mobile phones, electronics and other assorted goods.
Police were alerted but the unknown number of gunmen shot at the responding teams forcing them to withdraw and take cover.
This prompted more teams to respond to the scene where a shootout ensued forcing the gunmen to withdraw and escape.
It was established six shops belonging to non locals were targeted, broken into and looted.
Police said they are investigating the attack and that no arrest had been made.
In Ugunja, Siaya County, a gang tried to attack and rob a petrol station prompting a shooting drama.
Police on patrol said they found the gang trying to break into the petrol station and had managed to grab a generator before they escaped amid shooting.
Police said no injuries were reported in the drama on July 1 morning.
In Lurambi, Kakamega County, a nigh guard was attacked and seriously wounded in a failed robbery at a timberyard.
The victim is admitted in hospital in a serious condition, police said.
The attackers escaped the scene after the guard resisted their attempts.
Police said no arrest has been made so far and efforts to trace the gang are ongoing.
In Obunga, Kisumu County, two Russians were robbed of valuables from their apartment in an incident.
They told police they woke up to find the apartment rear door open and their mobile phones, two laptops and other electronics missing.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
