Police Lob Teargas Canisters At Protesting Nurses

The Nurses in Kenya have on strike for a while, today as they matched from the Ministry of Health to parliament to protest  for the closure of nursing schools they were met with police who fired teargas canisters at the protesting nurses.

The secretary general of the union Seth Panyako said that it was unfair for the police to fire them with teargas yet they had notified the Inspector General.

He said that teargas was meant for crooks as opposed to peaceful protesters,the police should be offering them protection as opposed attacking them.

Kenya National Union of Nurses  said that they wanted closure of the nursing schools they saying that they were producing half baked nurses as there was no one supervising them.

They are also seeking audience with the president so as to be able sort there differences.They are seeking for the registration of their collective bargaining agreement.
