Two police officers misused their firearms over a loaf of bread.

They have been identified as Peter Gachuru and James Mugo.

According to the Nation, the officers reside in Shauri Yako Estate, Marsabit where they confronted a shopkeeper for selling a spoilt loaf of bread to one of their girlfriends.

Confirming the incident was Marsabit Police Commandant Steve Oloo who noted that the officers have been apprehended.

They will remain in custody pending disciplinary action.

“This is total abuse of the power, instead of protecting the common mwananchi, they went about bullying them,” Oloo said.

Mr Oloo noted that the suspects bullied the shopkeeper who according to the girlfriend refused to refund her her money upon returning the bad bread.

This led to a confrontation between the officers and the local. They are said to have shot in the air as a way of persuading the local to pay up.
