‘Drink Milk And Pray For The Suffering Boy Child On January 1’ Maendeleo ya Wanaume Chair Tells Men
Maendeleo ya Wanaume (MAWE) chair, Nderitu Njoka has asked men to ‘drink milk and pray for our marginalized boy’ on January 1, 2018 in a bid to support the boy-child who he says has suffered the most in 2017.
Njoka says that according to a research he conducted, police do not take seriously cases of sexual harassment and the rising number of street boys.
”Over 500,000 street boys and around 200 boys are sexually harassed daily in Kenya, but such is not news. Even police take it lightly,” the MAWE chair said.
To kick start the year 2018, Njoka wants the government to foot circumcision bills the same way it provides girls with sanitary towels.
On matters education, he vilified Education CS Fred Matiang’i for telling the world that the girls beat the boys in the 2017 KCSE; which turned out to be an outright lie.
”Matiang’i should apologise for claiming girls defeated boys in KCSE. The top student was a girl, but overall, boys performed better. Why is Matiang’i and senior officers in the ministry propagating lies? What’s the agenda? Are they tools of the evil gospel that it is better to educate a girl than a boy?” he posed.

”The boy-child is suffering because of the misconception that they are always okay. There are lots of empowerment programmes targeting girls. The quota system in school admissions always favour girls at the expense of boys who are lagging behind. Nobody seems to care that boys are dropping out of school in big numbers.
”Every affirmative action should have a starting and ending point. We cannot have it implemented forever. Who said empowerment is only for women?” he wondered.
The MAWE chair also adds that he in 2016 wrote to President Uhuru Kenyatta asking him to pay special attention to the boy-child, a request he says fell on deaf ears.
