President Ruto mourns Zimbabwean tycoon Wicknell Chivayo and wife

President William Ruto Thursday expressed his condolences following the death of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, his wife Lucy Muteke and other victims of a helicopter crash in Zimbabwe.
Chivayo, his wife and four others died Wednesday in a helicopter crash.
In a message of condolence, Ruto described Chivayo as a dear friend whose warmth touched many people.
“Wicknell was a dear friend whose warmth touched many people. I will remember him for his friendship, his energy and his deep conviction in the possibilities of our continent,” Ruto said.
The President conveyed his sympathies to the families of all those who died in the crash, as well as Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the people of Zimbabwe.
“May God grant Wicknell, Lucy and all those who perished eternal rest,” Ruto said.
Family spokesperson Mr Herbert Chivayo confirmed the death of the businessman and his wife Lucy Muteke.
He said they are at loss of words after the tragic incident. ZImbabwe Republic Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the plane crash saying the helicopter had six occupants. Chivayo, a prominent Zimbabwean businessman, was known for his lavish lifestyle, high-profile charitable donations and close links to influential figures in Zimbabwe.
He had been active on social media in the days leading up to the crash, including making several high-value donations.
News of the crash sparked widespread reaction in Zimbabwe as details of the victims and circumstances surrounding the accident emerged.
