#PrimitiveEnergy: Was it an Honest Mistake or a Calculated Market Awareness Drive?
Korean Air is suppose to launch flights to Nairobi from Thursday 21st June. The airline started by running adverts on TV and on web. One of the print advert, also available on the web, did not go down well with Kenyans.
The advert called on prospective clients to take up the offer so that they could sample the “African Savannah, Safari Tour and indigenous people full of primitive energy.” Now this drew the wrath of Kenyans who have all morning vented their anger on this prompting the airline to apologize on Twitter.
The Offending Advert
Apology
“Regarding our recent promotional notice of Nairobi, we are checking on this issue accordingly.We sincerely apologize for this situation.” by @KoreanAir_KE
This might be a very honest mistake or it was just one way of attracting attention.
However, Kenyans took it upon themselves to make up all sorts of jokes just to poke fun at the ignorant Koreans. Check out this drink;
From June 21, Korean Air will operate an Airbus A330-200 aircraft with a total capacity of 226 seats between Nairobi and Inceon Seoul. The flight number KE959 will depart from Incheon, Seoul every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 22:15 arriving in Nairobi at 05:30 the following day.
From Nairobi, flight KE960 will depart at 10:30 every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and will arrive in Incheon, Seoul at 04:50 the next day.
Was this just a mistake or something meant to attract attention? The ad has gained a viewer-ship which can only be admired by others airlines.
