Public Health Officers Condemn Alcohol Donation To Starving Residents In Tiaty

The director of Public Health Dr. Kepha Ombacho has condemned the beer donations handed to starving residents of Tiaty  by a Chinese Company.

They said that it was dangerous to give the residents who were facing starvation. alcohol.

“This is just unacceptable. Beer is not food. You cannot introduce alcohol to people who are already starving,” Dr Ombacho said.

He said that donations should meet good standards so as not to poison the desperate residents.

Chinese Company, Ghuanshan International Mining Company Limited,donated bags of maize, vegetable oil and Tsingtao beer to the residents who are currently facing starvation.

The Chinese company in their defense said that they donated the beer as they had noticed that the residents liked beer.

“We decided to include beer in the food donation after we realized they like beer,” said Khan Ke.

The Men and youth scrambled for the cans of beer tearing the bags of maize . The elderly and children watched as the men fought for the cans of beer. The donation activity turned chaotic as a result.
