“Raila Odinga Is Running ODM Like A Gestapo” – Wetangula

NASA co-principal and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula has accused ODM party leader Raila Odinga of running the party like the Gestapo, a secret-police organization employing underhanded and terrorist methods against persons suspected of disloyalty.

The Bungoma Senator says that the former Premier is to blame for the fall of NASA and other parties all in pursuit of his own selfish interests, he told Citizen Tv’s News Night.

“It is, however, clear from history that Raila has been killing political parties. We worked with him in KANU he rocked it just like he did to National Rainbow Coalition. We worked with him in the Coalition of Reforms and Democracy and he literally killed it,” Wetangula said.

He further accused Odinga of working behind the scenes to dismantle an already established Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) with the aim of neutralizing all the agreements established in 2013.

The ousted senate minority leader told Hussein Mohammed that on the list of agreements that Odinga wanted out the window was among them backing Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2017 presidential bid.

“He said people were tired with CORD and I was not. He did not want to hold on the agreement to support Kalonzo in 2017 and the sure way to do it was to kill the institution and all its agreements,” he complained.

The ODM leader, he added, then came up with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) which he says was the beginning of the opposition’s problems.

It is also true that the 2017 presidential candidate was responsible for his ouster as the senate minority leader, Wetangula divulged.

“Raila planned and executed it. I can tell you for a fact. The majority party within NASA is ODM. Nothing happens without his approval. That is the manner in which Raila runs his party,” he said, adding that he is still in NASA because he is bound by law.

The coalition, he denotes is moribund but will vie for the country’s top seat come 2022 on his own.

Wetangula was replaced by Odinga’s close ally and Siaya Senator James Orengo after an overnight meeting by the majority party members.

NASA died on January 30, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said, claims Wetangula agreed with but notes that during the swearing in ceremony on the said date, the People’s President who has since shaken hands with President Uhuru Kenyatta, called and asked them (Wetangula, Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka) to stay away from it in case he was arrested.

It was after the ceremony that the three were continuously ridiculed and labelled as “traitors” by Odinga’s followers.
