NASA leader Raila Odinga has warned foreign envoys against interfering with Kenya’s affairs, especially the political stalemate that has rocked the country for the past few months.

Odinga was referring to a meeting held at Robert Godec’s residence, US ambassador to Kenya, where Donald Yamamoto, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the US government’s Bureau of African Affairs warned him about the planned swearing in ceremony which he noted would further polarize the country.

But the former Prime Minister speaking on Thursday at the City Mortuary told off the US envoys saying that Kenyans would solve their problems and should refrain from ‘shouting at us, Constitution my foot,” he jabbed.

The ODM party leader said U.S and Co have not spoken on pertinent issues like police brutality and told them to stay clear of Kenya’s issues. He maintained that the assumption of office ceremony was going to be lawful and would not be contravening the law.

He reiterated the opposition’s stand that he does not recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legitimacy in office.

Yamamoto during the Tuesday night meeting warned those against dialogue between Uhuru and Odinga of sanctions from President Donald Trump’s administration.

But Odinga has insisted that he is open to talks but only between equals as was in 2008 between himself and President Mwai Kibaki but this time electoral reforms have to be on the table.

In September, Yamamoto once again reached out to Uhuru and Odinga to resolve sticky issues around the October 26 repeat elections as ‘all eyes are on Kenya.’

“Kenya’s on — probably on — the threshold of a great election on October 17, but it’s the issues that we need to focus on and work with … the eyes of the world and the US government are on you, on Kenya,” he said.
