Ruto Appoints Catherine Kagwiria Mutua as Tana and Athi Rivers Authority Chair

President William Ruto has appointed Dr. Catherine Kagwiria Mutua as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority.

In a gazette notice dated March 20, 2026, the President said the appointment will run for a period of three years, effective March 19, 2026.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 (1) (a) of the Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Dr. Catherine Kagwiria Mutua to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority for a period of three years,” the notice reads.

Dr. Mutua will lead the board in providing strategic direction, policy guidance and oversight to ensure effective planning and management of the Tana and Athi river basins.
