Ruto

President William Ruto is leading the race for the 2027 presidential election, according to a new opinion poll by Politrack Africa.

The Kenya 2027 Presidential Preference Brief, released on October 1, shows Ruto leading with 45.1 per cent support among respondents.

The survey, conducted between September 15 and 25, 2026, places Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna second with 19.6 per cent.

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka follows with 10.3 per cent, while former Cabinet Secretary and former Jubilee Party leader Fred Matiang’i ranks fourth with 7.2 per cent.

The findings add to a series of recent opinion polls that have placed Ruto ahead of his potential challengers as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.

Sifuna has emerged as one of the notable figures in the latest poll, ranking second in the presidential preference survey.

His political profile has grown following the formation of the Linda Mwananchi movement after he was removed as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General. He is expected to unveil his political party in the coming days.

Other politicians included in the Politrack Africa survey are former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah, former Cabinet Secretary Martha Karua, former Chief Justice David Maraga, Siaya Governor James Orengo and Jimmy Wanjigi.

Meanwhile, President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) continues to command the highest level of party support, according to the survey.

DCP follows UDA and has overtaken ODM in the latest party preference rankings.
