Ruto mourns death of veteran State MC Sammy Lui

President William Ruto joined those mourning the death respected State House Master of Ceremonies Sammy Lui who died at his Subukia home, Nakuru County.
He died on Thursday October 23, 2025, his family said.
He described him as a dedicated public servant and a veteran broadcaster.
“From his early days as one of Kenya’s pioneer journalists at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation to his time at the Presidential Press Service, and later, as Director of State Events, his powerful voice was the familiar soundtrack to Kenyans.”
“His sterling career influenced many who followed in his footsteps, and his huge contribution to our media industry will not be forgotten,” he said.
His iconic voice became a familiar sound during national events, spanning the eras of former Presidents Daniel Arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki and part of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
Lui, whose distinctive voice defined national broadcasts during the Moi and Mwai Kibaki administrations, began his media career at KBC when it was the Voice of Kenya (VoK), later moving to KTN before serving as Director of State Events at the Office of the President.
This comes months after the Nairobi County Government demolished his house in Woodley Estate, Nairobi forcing him to move into a rented home.
