Safaricom Launches Bundle Ya Wakulima Offering Farmers Connectivity

Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, and technology is its greatest ally.Today, Rahab Wangui(L), Commercial Manager Agritech, engaged in a meaningful one-on-one conversation with Moses Bushedic(R) , a farmer and Safaricom customer, following the forum on empowering farmers with knowledge. The focus was on the latest bundles that combine connectivity with health insurance a game changer for farmers who need both reliable communication and healthcare security.
Safaricom has launched a new bundle targeting farmers with affordable access to connectivity, insurance, agricultural advice and production support.
The Bundle Ya Wakulima, launched as part of Safaricom’s PATA MORE customer value proposition, brings together voice, data, SMS and WhatsApp access with agricultural insurance options and advisory services.
The package also offers farmers discounted access to farm inputs and mechanisation, as well as credit options for eligible customers.
Speaking during a farmer engagement forum in Bungoma, Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer Fawzia Ali said the initiative would help farmers access information, protect their livelihoods and improve productivity.
“Food security is a critical component of our lives, yet it is threatened when farmers operate without reliable information, support, protection of their livelihoods and produce,” Ali said.
She said the bundle was designed based on insights from farmers, including the continued importance of voice communication in making farming decisions.
Safaricom noted that many farmers remain vulnerable to climate-related shocks, health emergencies and income disruptions due to low uptake of agricultural insurance.
The company said the new package would help address some of these challenges by giving farmers access to essential services throughout the farming cycle.
Bundle Ya Wakulima is available on daily, weekly, monthly and longer-term plans, allowing farmers to select options that suit their needs and farming seasons.
