    Safaricom Transferred $400 Million Through Phones in January

    Safaricom Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Arina confessed on Wednesday that the mobile phone giant transferred Ksh 30 Billion worth of cash through M-Pesa, its mobile transaction system. This is big news to the market which has other providers struggling with their services.

    Mr Arina says that 8.8 Million subscribers transferred close to Ksh 27 Billion through the mobile payment system which is a peer-to-peer system.

    Safaricom also say that they have 580 3G stations and 100 WIMAX stations throughout Kenya. He says that Safaricom is positioning itself to seriously deal with competition in the market. It has invested Ksh 7.5 Billion on data technology systems.
