Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi underscored the critical role of peace in driving Kenya’s economic transformation, warning that instability could erode the country’s development gains.

Speaking during Palm Sunday celebrations at ACK Kanyagia Parish to mark the Silver Jubilee of the ACK Diocese of Nyahururu, Mudavadi urged Kenyans to reflect on the value of peace, describing it as the foundation upon which prosperity, investment and social cohesion are built.

“The economic value of peace summarises everything else. Without peace, everything else is vanity,” he said.

Mudavadi emphasized that a stable environment is essential for businesses to thrive, jobs to be created and communities to prosper.
He noted that countries that have maintained peace have succeeded in building strong institutions, attracting foreign direct investment and delivering quality public services.

He cautioned that divisions, particularly tribalism, remain a major threat to national unity and economic progress, calling on Kenyans to reject divisive politics and embrace a shared identity rooted in inclusivity and mutual respect.

“If you get an accident and need urgent blood, you will not ask whether it comes from your tribesman. The whole issue of tribalism is useless,” he said.

Mudavadi also pointed to ongoing global debates, including those around healthcare systems, as evidence of the need for countries to collaborate in stable and peaceful environments to improve citizens’ wellbeing.

At the same event, he conveyed condolences from President William Ruto to residents of Nyandarua following the death of the Ol Kalou MP, urging unity during the mourning period.

Reflecting on his political ties to the region, Mudavadi recalled his partnership with Jeremiah Kioni during the 2013 presidential election, noting that the experience strengthened his connection with Nyandarua and continues to inspire his commitment to national unity and development.

The event was attended by Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, Ndaragwa MP George Gachagua, former Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia, alongside other leaders and faithful.

The Silver Jubilee celebrations marked 25 years of the ACK Diocese of Nyahururu, bringing together leaders and congregants in a reflection on faith, unity and nation-building, with a strong call to safeguard peace as the cornerstone of Kenya’s future growth.
