Born in December 1961 in Holon, to Jewish parents, her father Leonard Catz, a nuclear physicist, and her mother Judith Catz, a speech therapist and Holocaust survivor, she immigrated to the United States at the age of six, settling in Brookline.

After completing her education, she worked in investment banking at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, rising to roles such as managing director.

After Hurd’s departure in 2019, Catz became the sole CEO, steering Oracle through significant growth in cloud computing and acquisitions.
