Scott Scheffler is an American professional golfer who has risen to the pinnacle of the sport as the world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Known for his calm demeanor, technical precision, and relentless competitiveness, Scheffler plays on the PGA Tour and has become a dominant force in golf.

Raised in Dallas, Texas, after his family relocated when he was six, Scheffler’s love for the game was sparked early by his father, Scott, who bought him plastic golf clubs at age three.

His journey from a precocious talent to a two-time Masters champion reflects not only his skill but also the foundational support of his family.

    Siblings

Scottie is the only boy among four siblings, growing up alongside three sisters, namely Callie, Molly, and Sara Scheffler.

Callie, the eldest, born in 1994, has been particularly involved in Scottie’s golfing life, playing collegiately at Texas A&M and serving as his caddie during his amateur days, including at the 2016 U.S. Open and his PGA Tour debut at the 2014 Byron Nelson Championship.

Her competitive edge and support were pivotal in his early years, with the two sharing a close bond forged through junior tournaments.

Molly and Sara, the younger sisters, also dabbled in golf, contributing to a household where sports, especially golf, were a family affair.

While less is known about Molly and Sara’s pursuits—Sara was notably abroad in Portugal during Scottie’s 2022 Masters win—the siblings’ competitive backyard putting contests, as recalled by their father, honed Scottie’s clutch performance under pressure.

    Career

Scheffler’s amateur career shone brightly, highlighted by winning the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur and earning low amateur honors at the 2017 U.S. Open.

At the University of Texas, he claimed three Big 12 Championships and was named the 2015 Phil Mickelson Freshman of the Year.

Turning professional in 2018, Scheffler dominated the Korn Ferry Tour in 2019, winning Player of the Year honors and securing his PGA Tour card.

His rookie PGA season in 2020 earned him Rookie of the Year recognition, but 2022 marked his breakout: he won his first PGA Tour title at the WM Phoenix Open, followed by the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, and his first major at the Masters Tournament—all within three months—catapulting him to world number one.

Since then, he has added victories like The Players Championship in 2023 and 2024 (becoming the first to win back-to-back), the 2024 Masters, and multiple titles in 2024, including the Memorial Tournament and Travelers Championship.

His 2023 Ryder Cup contribution and consistent top finishes underscore his status as a modern golf titan.

    Accolades

Scheffler has secured two major championships, winning the Masters Tournament in 2022 and 2024, joining an elite group including Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as multiple winners of both the Masters and The Players Championship.

His 13 PGA Tour victories include standout wins like the 2023 and 2024 Players Championships, two Arnold Palmer Invitationals (2022, 2024), and two WM Phoenix Opens (2022, 2024), with six wins in 2024 alone—the most in a season since Woods in 2009.

Scheffler’s amateur honors include the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur and three consecutive Texas state high school titles (2012–2014).

He has been named PGA Tour Player of the Year for 2021–22 and 2022–23, and his 2020 Rookie of the Year award followed his 2019 Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year title.

Reaching world number one in March 2022, he has held the ranking for over 100 weeks, amassing over $58 million in career earnings, placing him among the top-10 all-time PGA Tour earners by age 27.
