Seth Michael Halvorsen, born on February 18, 2000, is a professional baseball pitcher currently playing for the Colorado Rockies.
He was drafted by the Rockies in the seventh round of the 2023 MLB draft.
Before making it to the majors, Halvorsen played in the minor leagues for teams like the Arizona Complex League Rockies, High-A Spokane Indians, and Double-A Hartford Yard Goats.
Halvorsen’s MLB debut came on August 30, 2024, after being added to the Rockies’ 40-man roster.
He achieved his first career save on September 21 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In 2024, his minor league stats included a 5-2 record with a 4.47 ERA over 41 games. In his 12 MLB games, he posted a 2-1 record with a 1.46 ERA.

In terms of family connections, it’s interesting to note that Sara Bareilles’ mother, Bonnie Jean, remarried Ron Halvorsen after divorcing Sara’s father when Sara was 12 years old.

Career
Halvorsen’s college baseball journey included stints at both the University of Missouri and the University of Tennessee.
After starting his collegiate career at Missouri, he transferred to Tennessee following the 2021 season.
A fracture in his right elbow sidelined him for the entire 2022 season, but he made a comeback in 2023, pitching to a 3-3 record with a 3.81 ERA and 52 strikeouts across 52.1 innings.

During a shortened campaign at Missouri, he also gained experience as a position player, appearing in 14 games and making 10 starts.

He earned his first career save on September 21, pitching a scoreless inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Accolades
Halvorsen has received numerous accolades throughout his baseball career.
In 2018, his outstanding performance earned him the title of Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year, as well as Prep Baseball Report Minnesota Player of the Year.
He was also recognized as a 2018 Rawlings/Perfect Game First Team All-American and a 2018 USA Today American Family Insurance All-USA Minnesota First Team honoree.
Further cementing his high school achievements, Halvorsen was named the 2018 Minnesota “Mr. Baseball.”
He was also a two-time MLB Draft selection.
In addition to his athletic achievements, he was named to the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll multiple times, highlighting his dedication to academics as well.
