Migori governor Okoth Obado’s lawyer Cliff Ombeta has confirmed that indeed the governor knew slain student Sharon Otieno and the nature of their relationship was known in the public domain.

The criminal lawyer said that the governor had not been arrested and he was just a person of interest and not a suspect.  Mr. Ombeta said that the governor would not be expected in court and that he had been summoned and he honored the summons.

He said that he could not confirm that DNA samples were taken from the governor because it was part of the investigations and comments on it would interfere with the investigations.

The lawyer said that the governor was going through public lynching and that those roadside talks should not be put int consideration. He said that they do not know the details of the case and therefore they should not have a right to speak.

“By shouting that the ‘masters’ must be held accountable, everybody is talking from a point of ignorance not evidence,” he stated.

He questioned why the politicians were speaking because governor Obado has issues with ODM. He asked why the politicians were not commenting on many deaths that happen in Githurai and Mombasa.
