A Nakuru Law Courts ruled that six Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers have a case to answer in the high-profile disappearance of Brian Odhiambo.

The six, Francis Wachira, Alexander Lorogoi, Isaac Ochieng Odhiambo, Michael Wabukala, Evans Kimaiyo, and Abdulrahaman Ali Sudi are charged with abducting Odhiambo on January 18, 2025, in Bondeni, Nakuru East Sub-County, with alleged intent to secretly and wrongfully confine him.

They denied the charges before Hon. Kibelion during the hearing.

Prosecution led by Counsel Win Kihumba and Dan Smith Mbalasi presented evidence in court indicating Odhiambo was arrested during an operation at Lake Nakuru National Park and subsequently went missing while in the custody of the accused officers.

At the close of the prosecution’s case, the court found that sufficient evidence existed to require the accused to enter their defence.

The hearing for the defence is set for June 8, 2026.

The intermediate ruling underscored the DPP’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that even state officers are held accountable when implicated in criminal acts.

Odhiambo went missing on January 18, 2025 after he was allegedly arrested by KWS officers.
