A 40 year old man on Friday night killed his father after he allegedly sold a piece of land without consulting him.

The deceased, Charles Mararo was dragged out of his home last night and with one strike was no more.

Mararo, 74, is said to have sold a piece of land in Marani sub county without duly informing his wife and children.

“My brother hacked my father to death by use of a sharp panga after they disagreed over the sale of our small piece of land,” Isabellah Bonari, the alleged killer’s sister told a local daily.

The commotion attracted the attention of others living nearby who explained that they found the old man’s body.

The deceased’s son identified as Dickson Mogutu is said to have dropped the weapon (panga) into a latrine before taking off.

The police did however manage to retrieve it.

“The deceased picked a quarrel with his son Dickson Mogusu who took a panga and slit his throat open. He fell down and died instantly,” said County Police Commander Martin Kibet.

Mararo’s remains have since been moved to Bosongo private hospital mortuary.
