Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has called for the investigation on senator Johnson Sakaja stating that he was denying the county revenue.
Speaking during an interview with NTV, he said that the senator had been cutting trees and grass to erect billboards but did not submit the required revenue to the county.
” Sakaja needs to be investigated. He operates with impunity. The Senator doesn’t pay revenue from his billboards,” he said.
Sonko reiterated that there was no law compelling him to nominate a candidate for deputy governor but he had shown good will by appointing Miguna Miguna and even accepting proposals from even the NASA coalition.
“I have already shown good will by appointing one Miguna Miguna. I received various proposals from various parties including Nasa,” Sonko said.
The governor said that he disagreed with auditor general’s report that money from the Nairobi beautification was drawn from his pockets.
I beg to differ with the auditor general, because 2017/18, beautification of Nairobi had no budget. That's why I was on record in the Senate to say that I funded this project with my own money – Gov. Sonko #Sidebar @KenMijungu pic.twitter.com/dkQrqwHsD7
