
Governor Mike Sonko has suspended the entire board of Pumwani Maternity Hospital after he discovered 12 infant corpses hidden in paper bags and boxes within the hospital premises.
Three senior staff including the hospital superintendent Catherine Mutinda, Dr James Kamau – the obstetrician gynecologist and the hospital’s administrator Zadock Angahya were suspended after the incident .
The governor made an impromptu visit to the hospital after a member of the public sent him a video of the corpses that were being moved.
The initial report indicated that only one infant had passed away only for the governor to find 11 more hidden.

Reports from the public indicated that the hospital had switch off the machines at the hospital which led to the death of the infants.
