Student collapses and dies at Riokindo High School, Kisii

Detectives are investigating an incident where a Grade Ten student collapsed and died at the Riokindo Boys High School in Kisii County.

Officials said the students had on March 28 returned to their dormitories from their field when one of them aged 15 collapsed.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police and the school administration said.

The cause of the death was not immediately known. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures. The parents of the student were informed of the incident, officials said on Sunday.

Elsewhere, detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found in house in Bofu area, Samburu, Kwale County.

Police said the body of Chombo Karisa, 28 was found lying in a pool of blood long after his murder.

The body had a deep cut on the neck and right fingers, police said.

The motive of the March 28 murder was not immediately established even as the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

And a woman was rescued from a scene after he attempted to die by suicide by setting her house on fire in Soy area, Uasin Gishu County.

The woman had on Saturday evening locked herself in her rental house and set it on fire.

Other tenants detected smoke from the neighbouring house and moved into action containing the spread of the fire.

She was rescued and rushed to the hospital. The motive of the incident was not immediately known, police said adding the matter is under probe.

Her husband was among those who joined in containing the spread of the fire and saving the wife.

Police suspect the woman was suffering from depression but added they would talk to her as part of efforts to establish the motive.
