Police in Kiambu East Sub-County are investigating a murder incident after the body of a 23-year-old man was discovered dumped near the main gate of Kiambu High School in Kirigiti area.

According to a report filed at Kiambu Police Station on March 22, 2026, members of the public alerted authorities after spotting the body in a Napier grass plantation near the school.

The deceased was identified as Richard Mpinda Mulwa, was a student at Kiambu National Polytechnic.

Preliminary findings revealed that the body had deep stab wounds on the left shoulder and a cut on the right wrist.

Investigators also traced bloodstains from a nearby residence where the deceased was reportedly living to the location where the body had been dumped, suggesting he may have been attacked elsewhere before the body was moved.

The body was later transferred to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.

Police have launched investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing and to identify those responsible.

Elsewhere police in Kahuro Sub-County, Murang’a County, launched investigations following the brutal murder of a 43-year-old woman at a bar and restaurant in Githagara Market.

Police said the incident was reported by a member of the public, Margaret Gakure, after a body was discovered at Stress Free Bar and Restaurant.

Police officers who visited the scene established that the deceased, identified as Josephine Ntinyari Mutiga, was residing in the servant’s quarters within the premises.

A woman had gone to call the deceased and found both the rear entrance door and the door to her room open.

Upon entering, she discovered Mutiga lying unresponsive on the floor behind the door.

The body was found in a pool of blood with multiple severe injuries, including deep cut wounds to the head extending to the skull, a severely injured jaw, and deep cuts on the left arm, middle finger, and both shoulders—indicating a violent attack.

Crime scene investigators observed blood spatters on the wall and stains on the bedding, suggesting that a struggle occurred before the killing.

The body was moved to Muriranjas Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.

Police have intensified investigations to establish the motive behind the killing and to apprehend those responsible.
