Sugar Repackaging Firms Given 13-Day Ultimatum to Register with Kenya Sugar Board

The Kenya Sugar Board has issued a 13-day deadline for all sugar repackaging businesses in the country to register with the authority, in a move aimed at strengthening regulation and protecting consumers.

In a public notice dated November 4, 2025, the Board directed all individuals, companies, and organizations involved in repackaging sugar for retail sale to formally register through the Kenya Sugar Board’s Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) portal at https://imis.ksb.go.ke/.

According to the notice, the registration exercise is intended to enhance traceability of sugar products in the market, improve monitoring and enforcement of quality standards, and ensure consumer safety.

“The application must be accompanied by all relevant supporting documents as prescribed in the Regulations and any guidance issued by the Board,” the notice reads.

The Board has set November 17, 2025, as the deadline for compliance. Those who fail to register risk enforcement action, including possible suspension of operations.
