Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa have agreed to sell their striker Percy Tau to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion FC in England.

Patrice Motsepe, the club’s president, okayed the deal – ending speculations over the 24-year-old’s future at the South African champions.

“Mamelodi Sundowns are pleased to announce that the president of Mamelodi Sundowns Dr. Patrice Motsepe gave instructions to the management to finalize the deal with Brighton & Hove Albion FC.

“…after Percy Tau and his agent came to see him and apologized for disclosing confidential information to the media and for Percy Tau not reporting for training,” the club said.

According to reports, Brighton have tabled a final offer of $4.3m, a record for a South African player, for the reigning Premier Soccer League MVP.

Tau’s departure comes in the wake of his striking partner, Khama Billiat, crossing over to Orlando Pirates as a free agent.
