Detectives in Kikuyu, Kiambu County are holding a 34-year-old suspect following the gruesome murder of Jane Atila Quedeya, a University of Nairobi, Kikuyu Campus student.

The decomposed body of Atila, whose missing report was registered at Kikuyu Police Station on October 13, 2026 was found dumped in a thicket at Kefri Muguga Forest on October 17, 2025, police said.

Forensic fingerprint identification analysis conducted in liaison with the National Registration Bureau positively identified the body.

This led to the arrest of the prime suspect, identified as Nicholas Mutua Mutia.

Preliminary investigations point that moments before her disappearance, Atila was in company of her estranged boyfriend Mutua.

The suspect was arrested and arraigned before Kikuyu law courts on October 25, 2025 where 21- days custodial orders were granted. Investigations continues with the miscellaneous application matter set for mention on November, 13.

Police want to establish what prompted the murder and if the suspect had accomplices in the incident. The suspect has been staying in Kikuyu area.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old robbery with violence suspect who robbed a security guard at gunpoint in Kisumu was Monday arrested in a dramatic police operation.

The suspect, Kelvin Oduor, alias Kevoo, was apprehended after Kisumu Sub-County Law Enforcement Officers on patrol heard gunshots within the area and swiftly responded.

Upon arrival, officers established that the suspect had attacked a security guard, robbed him of his mobile phone and rubber shoes, before fleeing the scene.

Determined not to let him escape, the officers launched a hot pursuit that paid off when the suspect was discovered hiding inside a water storage drum on the rooftop of Patel Sarmaji Building.

He was arrested on the spot, and an AK-47 rifle loaded with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition was recovered from his possession.

The suspect was escorted to Kisumu Central Police Station, where he is being processed pending arraignment in court.
