One of the suspects in the Ksh2 billion graft investigations against Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been arrested in Kisumu County.

According to Central Police boss Noah Katumo, the suspect, Jared Kwaga, was arrested for driving a car with a wrong number plate.

The police boss asserted that the number plate was not originally registered to that vehicle.

“We are conducting investigations to establish his intentions for using a vehicle with a wrong number plate,” Mr Katumo stated.

He added that Kwaga will be arraigned in court on Monday.

Mr Kwaga was driving a Toyota Prado V8.

Kwaga, who is claimed to be a close associate of Governor Obado is one of the key suspects in a graft case targeting the Migori boss by the EACC.

According to reports, a company registered to Mr Kwaga was awarded contracts worth Ksh1.6 billion by the county government, a move that is seen as a way of siphoning county funds.

Following the investigations, his accounts together with his alleged counterparts were frozen last November.
