Tahmeed grounds bus after passengers report bedbugs

Tahmeed has grounded one of its buses after passengers reported finding bedbugs on the seats.

The bus company acknowledged the incident involving bus registration number KCR 615, following a video circulating online showing what appeared to be bedbugs inside the vehicle.

In a notice to customers, Tahmeed said it had identified the bus and taken immediate action to protect passengers.

“We acknowledge the video circulating online regarding bus KCR 615,” the company said.

Tahmeed said that on July 17, 2026, it identified the affected bus and transferred all passengers to another vehicle to ensure their safety and comfort.

The company subsequently grounded the bus and removed all its seats as part of the measures to address the infestation.

“We grounded KCR 615 and removed all the seats,” Tahmeed said.

The company said the entire bus was then thoroughly sprayed and fumigated to eliminate the bedbugs.

According to Tahmeed, the bus was only cleared for service after inspections confirmed that it was completely pest-free.

The company also announced additional measures aimed at preventing a recurrence of the incident across its fleet.

These include increasing the frequency of fumigation for all buses, stopping the transportation of used bedding on all routes and upgrading seat-cover materials to types that do not harbour bedbugs.

Tahmeed said the measures were part of its response to customer concerns and commitment to maintaining acceptable hygiene standards across its buses.

“We value your feedback. Keep telling us when you see something that needs fixing. Your voice drives our standards,” the company said.
