Tamsin Tilley Beaumont, widely known as Tammy Beaumont, is an English professional cricketer born on 11 March 1991 in Dover, Kent.
She is a right-handed opening batter and occasional wicket-keeper who has represented the England women’s national team across all formats since her international debut in 2009.
She grew up in a cricket-oriented household in the Sandwich area of Kent, where she attended Sir Roger Manwood’s School before studying chemistry and sports science at Loughborough University.
Early health challenges from food allergies affected her growth and initially limited opportunities, but her family’s support and her own determination helped her progress from local boys’ teams to the international stage.
Siblings
Tamsin has one known sibling, an older brother named Michael Beaumont.
Michael captained an Under-11 team coached by their father, Kevin Beaumont, a research scientist and club cricketer.
The family environment centred on the sport, and as a young child Tamsin idolised her brother, often copying him and joining in practice sessions.
When the Under-11 side needed players, she successfully argued for her inclusion at around the age of eight after demonstrating superior batting and bowling skills compared with some of the boys.
Later, Tamsin, Michael, and their father all played together for Sandwich Town Second XI, where Kevin bowled off-spin, Michael fielded effectively (often at cow corner), and Tamsin kept wicket.
Career
Beaumont began playing formal cricket as a child and made her county debut for Kent in 2007 at the age of 16.
She earned early recognition with England development sides and debuted for the senior national team in one-day internationals against the West Indies in November 2009, followed shortly by her T20I debut.

Her Test debut came against Australia in 2013.
Initially valued as a wicket-keeper-batter, she evolved into a specialist opening batter known for consistency and aggressive strokeplay.
She has represented Kent for many years, later playing for The Blaze (formerly Lightning), and has featured in franchise competitions including the Women’s Big Bash League with Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Renegades, and Sydney Thunder, as well as The Hundred with teams such as Welsh Fire and London Spirit.
Key career highlights include a leading role in England’s 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup victory, where she scored 410 runs.
She also made history with a double century of 208 against Australia in the 2023 Women’s Ashes Test at Trent Bridge, the highest individual score by an English woman in Test cricket.
She has also recorded centuries in ODIs and T20Is, becoming one of the few players to achieve international hundreds in all three formats.
Accolades
Beaumont was named Player of the Tournament at the 2017 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup after topping the run charts.
In the 2018 New Year Honours she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to cricket.
She was selected as one of Wisden’s Cricketers of the Year in 2019.
Further individual honours include the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year in 2021, multiple selections in ICC Women’s ODI and T20I Teams of the Year, PCA Women’s Player of the Year awards including in 2016 and 2023, and ICC Women’s Player of the Month awards in February 2021 and September 2024.
She has also contributed to team successes such as the 2017 World Cup title and a Women’s Big Bash League championship with Sydney Thunder.
