Pope Francis has turned down the temptation of cruising in a first class luxury sports car after he rejected a Sh22million customized Lamborghini given by the German Volkswagen company CEO Stefano Domenicali.

Instead, the Pope blessed it and opted that it be auctioned and the proceeds help Christians in the middle east.

The 80 year old Argentine who has been vocal in denouncing the purchase of luxurious phones and cars prefers his blue Ford Focus that he uses inside the Vatican walls.

A paragon of humility and simplicity owing to the virtue of his position, Pope Francis has made a statement on all his foreign trips by shunning fancy, bullet-proof SUVs and opting instead for modest Fiats or KIAs.

Given that the car was personally blessed by the Pope, it is tipped to fetch twice its market price with some of the funds said will go to charities that help women who are trafficked and forced into prostitution, and those that provide medical care in Africa.
