Police in Bungoma County arrested three people following the death of a 35-year-old Ugandan woman whose body was discovered in a lodging room at Kanduyi Market.
The deceased, identified only as Dianah, was reportedly a Ugandan national and a sex worker operating in the Kanduyi Market area.
According to police, concern was raised on the morning of Saturday, September 19, after Dianah failed to wake up. The main door to the premises had also reportedly been locked from outside, while attempts to reach her were unsuccessful.
Police officers visited the scene and, together with members of the public, broke open the main entrance before accessing Room 9, where the woman was found.
Police said Dianah was found lying lifeless on a bed with her legs apart. She had sustained a deep cut wound on the right side of her head, slightly above the ear.
Investigators also reported blood splashes on the walls and a significant amount of blood on the bedding. A bedsheet was reportedly found inserted in her mouth.
The scene was processed and documented by Crime Scene Investigation officers from Bungoma South before the body was moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
Three suspects were arrested to assist police with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Police are continuing with investigations to establish the events leading to the suspected murder.
Elsewhere, police in Kwale County have launched investigations into the murder of a worker whose body was discovered within the premises of Agro Fibre Company in Taru, Samburu Sub-County.
The deceased was identified as Safari Ngundi, a staff member at the company.
According to a police report, the incident was reported at around 10am on Saturday, September 19, the security in-charge at the company.
Officers from Taru Police Station visited the scene and found the body of a man lying on his back in a pool of blood.
Police reported that the deceased had visible cut injuries to the neck, raising suspicion that he had been murdered.
DCI officers from Taru documented and processed the scene as investigations began to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
The body was later moved to Kinango Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending a postmortem examination.
