Three Arrested as Police Seize 10,000 Litres of Suspected Uncustomed Ethanol along Nairobi–Nakuru Highway

Police in Lari Sub-County have arrested three suspects after intercepting a lorry carrying approximately 10,000 litres of suspected uncustomed ethanol.
The suspects were apprehended on Friday, October 2, 2026, during a routine patrol along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway.
In a statement, police said officers intercepted the lorry during the patrol and discovered the suspected uncustomed ethanol.
The three suspects were taken into custody at Lari Police Station, where they are being held pending arraignment.
The motor vehicle and the intercepted ethanol were also detained at the police station and secured as exhibits as investigations continue.
The National Police Service said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat the movement of illicit goods across the country.
“The National Police Service remains resolute in its fight against illicit brews, drugs, contraband, and uncustomed goods across the country,” police said.
