Three Arrested Over Highway Robbery Along Mombasa–Nairobi Road

Detectives in Rabai Sub-County have arrested three suspects believed to be part of a highway robbery gang that has been attacking truck drivers along the busy Mombasa–Nairobi highway.
The arrests followed a tip-off from members of the public, which led officers to conduct an operation in Mabirikani area. The suspects, identified as Juma Ali, Hamisi Juma and Benedict Chirodo, are said to be part of a larger gang that has been terrorising drivers near the Bonje area in Mazeras Township.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said several items were recovered from the suspects, including foreign currency, two pairs of military boots, 14 rolls of bhang, 32 pieces of mug glass, mobile phone chargers, two bales of carrier bags and a computer keyboard.
Police said the items are linked to several cases reported at Mazeras Police Station.
“The suspects are currently in custody and are being processed before they are taken to court. The recovered items have been kept as exhibits as investigations continue,” the DCI said.
